Low mood can escalate into periods of depression which present with symptoms of low motivation, diminished interest, diminished reactivity, low energy, negative ruminations, feelings of worthlessness, helplessness, poor concentration, interrupted sleep patterns and feeling that life is meaningless. This can on occasion escalate to feeling that life is not worth living. I am clinically trained in the areas of mood disorders and am able to diagnose and undertake counselling with clients to address the psychological causes, but am also able to understand the more complex psychiatric aspects of depression. I liaise with the client’s G P and if necessary, determine if Psychiatric treatment is advisable.
